You may think mantras or affirmations are a bit woowoo, but did you know that everything that you say to yourself is a mantra?
I just can’t get organized.
It’s a struggle to eat healthy.
I am overwhelmed .
I’m not good at math.
Those are ALL mantras. You are ALREADY repeating them and giving them energy.
So why not set a mantra or affirmation that supports your goal?
Mantras or affirmations can be powerful tools to manifest change in your life and health. Your mantra should be stated in the present tense, as if it has already happened, and in a positive way, without any reference to what you’re trying to avoid.
It could be as simple as:
I am joyful and at peace
I enjoy being at my ideal weight
I care for my body with healthy food and regular exercise
I love my body.
I have enough time to do everything that is important to me.
For mantras to be effective, you must have patience, consistency and discipline.
Here are a few suggestions to incorporate your mantra throughout the day to create the habit.
- Use your mantra to create a screen saver on your computer or wallpaper on your phone
- Create a trigger, such as each time you come to a traffic light or stop sign; each time you look at your watch or check Facebook; or even try the old-school rubber band around your wrist to prompt you to review your mantra
- Set the alarm or reminder on your phone to signal you to review your mantra
- Put your mantra on Post it notes and leave them on your refrigerator, bathroom mirror, computer monitor or anywhere you will see it throughout the day
What do you have on repeat?
