On Tuesday mornings I participate in a walking group led by my friend Maria. (This is a pic of the group I found on my phone from last year).
Mid-way we pause and Maria leads us in a reflection or meditaiton. It’s always thought provoking and uplifting.
Today she asked us what our favorite thing was about ourselves. It was actually setting us up for a conversation about waiting, but that’s a discussion for another time.
It got me thinking about how little I stop to appreciate myself. So, I thought I’d dust off an exercise I often use with clients.
Write down 50 things you appreciate about yourself. Yes, 5-0! Take NO more than five minutes on this task.
It’s helpful to set a timer. Pay attention to your feelings as you’re doing it. Is there resistance? Is it hard to see yourself in a positive light?
Here’s the start of my list:
1. I am energetic
2. I have a strong faith
3. I am caring wife
4. I have pretty eyes
5. I am an independent woman
6. I am smart
7. I am a loyal friend
8. I have great strength within me
9. I am very action oriented
10. I am adaptable
Your turn.
Remember how powerful you are!
Don’t be afraid to be bold and step into your own power!
