“The universe will only give you what you put in the order form – what are you ordering?”
I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot lately and then wham – I read this line in an email from the lovely Lisa Meta Griff from Urban Breath NYC.
I have in fact been getting exactly what I’ve ordered.
For a few weeks I’ve had some fairly negative chatter cluttering up my mind. It wasn’t limited to any particular area – health, business, relationships… It was more overall frustration, exhaustion and overwhelm. Consequently I just became more frustrated and more exhausted. I was simply ordering up more of the same.
So I decided to take a few specific steps to turn that around.
First, to combat overwhelm I did a total brain dump. I find this to be very helpful when I’m feeling sucked in by too much chaos. I created individual sheets for the different area of my life such as Home, Health, Personal, Financial, Business, and so on. Then I unloaded all the various things that were swirling through my mind, dividing them into low, medium and high priority. Nothing is too small or too big to make the list. Anything from getting the house painted to getting my nails painted is written down. Getting it all out of my head and down on paper always gives me a great sense of relief.
For example, in the personal/health category I simply wrote – Get lots of Reiki.
I had no particular plan, but as a Reiki practitioner myself, I know the power of Reiki to heal.
Then just a few days later I received an email from my own Reiki mentor offering me free sessions. We scheduled an appointment during which she told me she’d be happy to set up a marathon of Reiki sessions with her and other practitioners. I had not told her of my ‘lists.’
Ask and you shall receive.
Two weeks after my brain dump, I’m amazed at how the list has whittled down and how many things beautiful have manifested.
Getting out of the state of overwhelm also helps my attitude tremendously. Instead of getting frustrated, it opens me up to expect great things. Like yesterday for example. I was on my way driving to teach teach Memorial Day morning class and I began wishing I had asked the other instructors if anyone wanted to team teach to make it more fun.
I arrived to find my associate Peggy ready to teach class, complete with the Center decorated and snacks prepared. Of course it was really my own communication snafu that left us both thinking we were teaching, but it evolved into EXACTLY what I hoped.
Fortunately the miracles have kept coming, just to further reinforce the message:
“The universe will only give you what you put in the order form – what are you ordering?”
