Several years ago I was inspired by Cami Walker, author of 29Gifts (I highly recommend it). I took the challenge and gave away one thing a day for 29 days. In my perfect world, I’d have liked to keep it going on a daily basis. However, so as not to let the perfect get in the way of the good, I’ve since aimed to make this a weekly habit.
Each week when I plan my week I write down a Weekly Give. It could be volunteering, a small donation, or sending a friend a card for no reason to let her know I’m thinking of her.
Your Give doesn’t have to be monetary. In fact, most of the time mine is not. It may be a gift of your time or attention. You can get as creative as you’d like. You can also do it anonymously, which is fun too.
Since creating this practice several years ago, I find that whenever I ‘fall off the wagon’ with this habit, it seems to coincide with other self doubts and struggles.
When things are overwhelming in my life if I just step out of my own misery and focus on giving, the sooner they turn around.
Ultimately, both personal and business issues melt away when I focused on the Give.
As corny as it sounds, this really does begin to open up greater pathways for YOUR own abundance.
Happy giving…and take good care,
