I was blessed last week to spend a few days at one of my favorite places on earth, Kripalu, thanks to Birthday gifts from two special people. Every year I head up there for two nights. And every year when I’m heading home I promise myself that next year I’ll stay longer. It’s a 48 hour whirlwind of yoga, delicious organic food, lounging, reading, learning, dancing. It’s refilling the well.
Then it occurred to me that the real key is taking the time. Does it really matter if it’s 48 hours, 48 minutes, or 48 days (wouldn’t that be nice?)?
No, what really matters is taking the time. It’s a gift of self compassion. You may not be able to get away for two days, but can you gradually implement a practice of self compassion for two hours?
One of my favorite Kripalu teachers, Aruni Nan Futuronsky explained last week that by allowing ourselves the opportunity for self compassion we can NOTICE, RELAX, and REALIGN. (NRR. Nice acronym, right? )
I don’t know about you, but I’m often in need of some realignment!
When we do that our brain changes. And that can become a cascade of awesomeness.
“It is never ending, it is a one breath at a time journey,” Aruni says.
Why not start today?
NRR….!
