Getting back into the swing of things can be a little tough. Plus expectations can be pretty high with all those goals and resolutions many of us tend to set.
My practice is to begin the year with a personal day, which I took on Friday. I devote part of the day to planning and part to self care and relaxing fun. My two favorite tools for the planning process are Danielle LaPorte’s Desire Map and Leonie Dawson’s Create Your Shining Year – Life & Business Worksbooks.
To get started this year I armed myself with these books, my planner, journal, lots of colored markers and pencils and a cup of Vanilla Rooibos tea and settled into a comfy chair at Starbucks. I began by journaling and determining how i want to feel in the coming year. I also spent time reflecting on 2014 and what went right (and not so right).
Also as part of my personal day I enjoyed a wonderful yoga class and treated myself to a matinee of Into the Wood (with popcorn of course!). I tried to refrain from singing along. Key word, tried. (Had such a blast performing in show years ago, so of course I know all the words!)
It was definitely a much needed rejuvenating day.
My planning process for the New Year isn’t complete, but I feel I have a solid start. I have to remind myself that they are 52 weeks in the year, I don’t have to have it all figured out this week!
