I declared today to be a pajama day.
Last night was a late night out at a party (which was great fun!), and I went to bed thinking I’d get to the early mass this morning, practice some yoga, tackle a few loads of laundry, and maybe catch the Les Mis matinee. Other than the laundry, all plans went by the way side by the time I woke this morning.
In tuning in to what my body and my spirit REALLY needed, it was clamoring for some nesting. I found myself wishing it were a snow day, because that’s the sort of day I craved. After three weeks of parties and commitments and being on the run, I needed to be home. I longed to putter, clean up, organize, and rest. It was a day to restore both my environment and my body. Why wait for snow? So I declared to my husband, “I won’t be getting out of my pajamas today and I won’t be leaving the house.”
In fact, though it initially sounded like it’d be a lazy day, a lot was accomplished today, from taking down the Christmas tree, to cleaning out the hall closet (including packing up old coats for Goodwill) to watching episodes of Catfish on the computer.
It was exactly what I needed!
Though I’m starting to see a theme in 2013 (Pajama Party at Jazzercise on New Year’s Day and last night’s 12th Night Party was also a ‘come in your pj’s event’) . Hmm, I do hope the rest of my wardrobe will get to see the light of day this year!
If you need it, don’t wait for snow, just declare it Pajama Sunday!
