A few weeks ago I complimented my friend Min’s hat. Min is one of my business mastermind partners and we’ve become friendly over the last year. She said knitted it.
(Is it knit or knitted? I’m not really sure).
On Sunday night she texted me a picture of this hat I’m wearing in the photo. She asked “do you want a pom pom on your hat?”
Huh? Wait, what? My hat? You made this? For me?
My first reaction was — why?
Many questions followed in my head…why would you spend that much time on making something for ME? You don’t really know me that well? What did I do to deserve this?
It was such a generous and beautiful act of kindness, and apparently I didn’t really feel ‘worthy’ of it.
This is exactly the type of thing I work with clients on.
In order to create a successful business, then we must be open to RECEIVING, especially if that success includes a financial component (and for most it does),
We often THINK we want to receive, but then remain closed to actually receiving.
I thanked Min profusely, and she texted back “I had fun making it.”
To happily recieve often means that we are giving a gift to the giver as well. In this case, Min received the gift of doing something she enjoys.
I’m learning to receive graciously, whether it be a cute hat, a cup of tea, or help (which is a big one for me). In doing this, I’m manifesting even more gifts from the Universe (like a new client and a fun opportunity). I guess the Universe knows I can handle it and I’m ready with open arms :).
Oh, and the hat’s reversible, since we went with no pom pom. What could be better than that?!
How can you recieve with an open heart?
