I was in awe and inspired by the opening performance of the Tony Award by Neil Patrick Harris. Such creativity! It made me want to sing, dance and go out do something creative. Not necessarily crafty, mind you! Growing up, when faced with how to while away our time, my best friend, Beth Phelan used to enthusiastically suggest “let’s play ‘make things'”.
“Make things?!?!” I’d groan. “I hate make things!”
Beth would whip up a lovely garment for Barbie, while I’d be stuffing my Barbie’s arms through a piece of kleenex and calling it a wrap dress.
I knew early on that I wasn’t really the crafty type and have always envied those who are. However, creativity can be expressed in so many ways, how we dress, the meals we prepare, our how we market our business.
In order to let creativity thrive however, downtime is essential. That’s when imagination thrives and a new energy and perspective emerges.
The possibilities are really endless. Now my mind is firing up ways to add more creativity to my summer.
Whaddya say? Shall we get our creativity ON?
