I’ve been leaning into this question lately and it’s been powerful.
What do I need right now?
And more specifically I like to ask: What does my body need right now?
Yesterday was a pretty busy day.
I had a networking event in the morning, a memorial service for a long-time customer followed by a group lunch, a therapy appointment, a business coaching call, and a group wisdom circle call. To top if off, my upstairs is in COMPLETE disarray in preparation for new carpeting coming tomorrow, so I can’t find ANYTHING!
Lately I’ve been attending a dance class on Tuesday nights, but I was pretty drained and really didn’t feel like going.
I went through the debate in my head – I should go to dance. I paid for the pass and I should be using it. I’ll get behind in the choreography. I made a commitment to myself to dance every week….and so on.
I paused. I put my hand on my heart. I took a few deep breaths. I released the ‘shoulds’.
I asked myself What do I need right now?
I went on Insight Timer (highly recommend!) and found a 30 minute Gentle Heart Opening Yoga class starting soon.
That was a giant YES in my body.
I grabbed my yoga mat (once I dug it out amid the mess), lit a candle and melted in the practice.
It begins with the question… What do I need right
