Today I turned 51. Kinda surreal, as I remember thinking how incredibly old 30 was once upon a time.
Last year I threw myself a fun and elegant 50th Birthday party. I really wanted to mark the occasion in a significant way. This year, when asked what I wanted, I replied a chocolate cupcake and a glass of a good red, perhaps Merlot.
This morning, I filmed this impromptu video, read on before you click….
Here were my first thoughts….
I am half dressed – I have my workout bottoms on getting ready for the gym, but my pajama top still on (and incidentally the pj top is inside out).
No make up, crazy ‘just woke up’ hair.
Not a flattering camera angle. Spontaneously hit record in the spot my phone was charging.
I’m having my morning shake and taking my supplements. Truly not interesting fodor for video.
That’s what I would typically have focused on in the first 50 years….
At second glance I see….
Joyous dancing.
Beautiful light shining into my kitchen.
Radiant spirit.
Positive energy.
And a choice to make it a great day.
Just as I used to think 30 was “old”, my perceptions on so many other things have thankfully evolved. I’m not worried that it is not a ‘perfect’ video.
It is me being me.
I think 51 is going to be an amazing year!
