We’re already on week two of August.
One of my intentions this month is to spend time in nature every day….bonus if that time is spent walking.
Yesterday I was inside all day and I hadn’t planned on going to my usual Monday night Zumba class.
Still I could have easily skipped it. It’s humid with gray skies, not all that appealing.
But since I value keeping my commitments to myself, I put on my sneakers as soon as I got home and headed out.
There are MANY times when I haven’t kept my commitments to myself. It’s a muscle I’m working on strengthening.
I find the more I show up for myself, the more other things seem to fall into place. It impacts confidence, as well as how other people see you.
When I worked in executive training and leadership development I often used the line:
People will listen to what you say, but their behavior will be shaped by what you DO.
That’s true in parenting, managing teams and many other relationships.
If you want respect from your team, more clients, or deeper friendships, ask yourself…
How do you keep your commitments to yourself?
