Hey friends,
Happy New Year!
I hope you experienced some peace and joy our the holidays, albiet their surreal nature, and are ready for a fresh start.
This is the ultimate list-making time of year, and I LOVE making lists.
I have to do lists, project lists, gratitude lists, shopping lists…. the list goes on.
You name it, I probably have a list for it.
This practice helps me stay organized and juggle a lot of activities and goals, but it is also my method of controlling my environment (which is basically another way of saying manage my stress and anxiety).
It’s a habit that has served me well.
Given the ‘new year, new you’ mood of January (especially after the train wreck of 2020) it seems like crafting a list of resolutions may be in order.
But, I think we all know that New Year’s Resolutions aren’t all that effective.
If you made any, good for you! Message me in two weeks and let me know how that’s working out for you.
Instead try this on for size:
Create a desire list.
What feelings do you desire to have in 2021? You could even add some desired experiences as well.
Once you have identified your desires, you’ll be able to get an idea of what choices and habits you’ll need to play with in order to create that feeling.
The whole “choose a word or theme for the year” trend has been going on for several years now. It can either be something you are fired up about in
January and then shelve in that same place resolutions go mid-month. OR it can be a guidepost to bringing you closer to your desires.
On tomorrow’s Rhythm Radio I’ll be sharing my personal theme for 2021 and how I plan to use it bring me to my desired feelings this year.
Be well,
Kristen
