I’m writing my own “Silver Linings Playbook”

Blog Post

After a tough week, received this card &  bracelet from one of my beautiful customers 🙂

I loved the movie, the concept, and even more so the aplomb of Jennifer Lawrence as she made the best of her stumble to the Oscar stage.

More and more lately, I find I have to write my own “Silver Linings Playbook.”

For example,  this weekend, I was frustrated and in pain after being rear ended on Saturday afternoon.  I was minding  my own business, sitting at a red light for heavens sake!

The GOOD NEWS is that there ARE many silver linings.

I walked away (aside from whiplash, etc, no serious injuries)…the other guy’s car is far worse…my car can be repaired… it wasn’t my fault so I won’t have to pay for medical, auto repair or car rental expenses… just to name a few.  And of course,  I have Advil.

I was in part frustrated because this is the SECOND time in fourteen months that I’ve been rear ended.

I’m a big believer in the mind and body connection and the metaphysical aspects of what happens in our worlds, so WHY the heck did this happen AGAIN?

A wise woman (thanks Ginny) told me after the last accident that being rear ended, though you’re not at fault, is usually indicative that you are feeling a lack of control.

Ya think?

That was an eye opener last time, because I distinctly remembered three vivid things that happened earlier that day, and yes, I was feeling like there was a lot beyond my control.

Flash forward to this accident.  Earlier this week, a crazy medical incident that almost necessitated an ambulance ride once again put my mind in that out of control mental state.

I immediately remembered Ginny’s words last time and decided that rather than let this accident make me feel like I’m spiraling even further out of control, I’d  focus on those silver linings.  In fact, another silver lining was that because of the other medical situation, I already had coverage for my classes lined up for this week. Whew!

Now I’m anxiously looking forward to the go ahead from my surgeon to get back on the stage.  For me, it will feel almost like being on the red carpet!
