I’m getting super excited about Sunday’s Reclaim Your Sparkle Women’s Half Day Spring Retreat. It seems that every week I learn more about the importance of taking time to truly restore.
This past Sunday I took the time to completely relax (since my mom was out of town, we’ve planned our Mother’s Day celebration for next weekend).
The weather was glorious, so I camped out in my backward with a good book and a green juice and relished the day.
It created some serious energy and focus for the week (I’ve been on fire!) I used to think it was too much of an indulgence to spend have the day reading (unless there was a snowstorm, and even then I always felt like I should be catching up on cleaning!). But I also realized I never felt fully rested.
Now I make self care one of my three most important tasks every day. Not only has my health and attitude improved, but I find my business and my relationships seem to be on a real upswing as well. I’ve got a business meeting this morning, plus a bunch of administrative stuff to knock out in my office, but then I’m meeting a girlfriend for a walk in the park. We’ll get a chance to catch up, bask in the beautiful sunshine, absorb some Vitamin D, and get some exercise. {In fact the photo above (which may look pretty random in this post) was taken last week when I met my friend Andrea for a walk on the Highline in NYC.}
Whether you join us on Sunday (and I hope you do) remember that caring for yourself is NOT SELFISH. In fact it’s one of the most nurturing things you can do.
And don’t wait till Sunday, do something today!
