Last weekend I had the opportunity to get away for a few days to visit family in Virginia. I have never lived in the same state as my aunt, uncles or my first cousins. That means we have to make a bit more of an effort to see one another and we all know how lives get busy, time marches on….and before we know it another year has passed or we’re reuniting at someone’s funeral.
I believe family is one of THE most important parts of our lives, whether it’s your biological family, or the one you create. It’s so easy to take our family for granted, but we must give it the time and attention it deserves.
On the last night, my Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Bill treated us to a Low Country Boil, a southern tradition, (see pic) which is always a lot of fun. The cousins, spouses, and kids gathered for lots of laughs and copious amounts of wine.
We even decided to make this an annual event, rotating locations. Already looking forward to next spring at Barry’s in Florida, because after all, family should be at the top of the list!
