It’s been over a week since I’ve returned from Costa Rica and when people ask how the trip was, I’m not quite sure how to answer them.
It was an incredible adventure with courageous women.
But it was much more.
It was special.
One activity we took on was surfing. I was not too excited about this, and was unsure if I would participate until the last minute.
When I was in eighth grade vacationing in Ocean City, MD with my family, I got hit hard by a wave. I was knocked down, dragged by the current, my head repeatedly banging against the rocks. It was pretty scary.
I kept replaying that moment as I was trying to decide if I’d join the group. There were others who chose to watch from the beach, so I didn’t feel like I’d be singled out.
I tuned into my body, did some energy testing and decided to go for it.
I was paired with my friend Diane for instruction, which was PERFECT, and our instructor Diego was funny, patient and amazing.
Right before I finally got up (YES! I did!), I yelled my favorite intenSati mantra “I am powerful beyond measure!” Ok, perhaps I yelled “I am f%#ing powerful beyond measure!”
And I did it. I got up and rode that wave ALL.THE. WAY.
Yep, I can do hard things. I can rewrite old stories.
And so can you.
PS That’s Diego. He’s the best! I told him my story AFTER I caught the wave and we both cried.
