This was not one of my favorite years. I could create a very lengthy list of bullet points to tell you why, some of which you probably know about if you’ve been reading this blog, others which I haven’t shared publicly, and really don’t need to.
But nevertheless, there were some really wonderful moments too. I cultivated new friendships and deepened other long standing relationships. I found myself supported in ways I could have never imagined by people who care about me. I surprised myself, challenged myself and found strength within me that I’m not even sure I realized I had.
In completely random order…
- Created a new vision board
- Got hooked on playing Words with Friends (and have some friends who consistently kick my butt!)
- Surprised my husband for his 50th Birthday
- Led my dance class in a performance for a King of a village in Ghana
- Designed and launched a new website
- Started hosting a radio show which has brought many incredible people into my life
- Tried “floating”
- Went to a Korean spa (in my Birthday suit)
- Learned how to Batik
- Danced in the aisle to Train in concert
- Spent over eight hours under general anesthesia for two major surgeries (one planned, one unexpected)
- Watched my step daughter graduate from high school and go off to college
- Sampled palm wine
- Became a fitness expert and began filming videos for ehow.com
- Tasted kenkey (yuck)
- Hired two wonderful interns
- Finished the 42 miles of the Five Boro Bike Tour for the fourth year in a row
- Walked over the trees in a rainforest on a canopy walk
- Celebrated five clean pathology reports after having the scare of a lifetime
- Worked with a publicist
- Decided I actually do like coconut (as long as it’s not shredded)
- Visited the NYC Botanical Gardens for the first time
- Curled up in bed listening to the winds of Hurricane Sandy
- Participated in a Drum Circle for the Blue Moon
- Attended a Penecostal church service wearing full African dress
- Started writing a book
Hmm, actually, maybe it wasn’t so bad after all. If you look for the good, it multiples. I can’t wait to see what will unfold in 2013.
Blessings to all for a very Happy & Healthy New Year!
